York Welcomes Munger Academy Owners
Sterling, Virginia, May 19, 2007 – Munger Academy in Sterling recently held its annual May Fair celebration. Scott York, Chairman of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, was on hand to greet the new owners and kick off the festivities.
This year’s May Fair offered the opportunity for the community to meet the new owners in a fun and casual setting. Past, present and future Munger Academy families enjoyed the carnival atmosphere and the beautiful weather.
“We are definitely excited about acquiring such an established school and staff,” said Robert Singer. “We are looking forward to becoming part of the family.”
Robert Singer, Michele and Chuck Inderrieden recently purchased the 30-year-old private school from Paula and David Munger.
Plans are underway to renovate the buildings, add new computers, and increase the programs currently offered to include first grade beginning in the fall. Munger Academy is currently registering for Summer Camp and the 2007-2008 academic year.
Conveniently located at 624 W. Church Rd., Sterling, the beautiful campus houses the school buildings and a large playground area adjacent to Claude Moore Park. For more information and to schedule a personal tour, please call Patricia Hidy at 703-430-2781.

Munger Academy Under New Ownership
Sterling, Virginia, April 9, 2007 -- Paula and David Munger announce the sale of Munger Academy to Robert Singer, Andrea Fus, and Chuck and Michele Inderrieden.
“We never actively looked to sell Munger Academy, but after knowing Robert Singer for over a decade, we realized that we might never again have the opportunity to see that the school would go to someone I was certain would carry on the traditions we have worked so hard to establish and maintain,” said Paula Munger.
The Mungers are returning to their home in Colorado Springs, where they have resided for the past two years, to continue their philanthropic ventures.
In a statement to Munger Academy staff and families, Robert Singer said, “We view the purchase of Munger Academy as the culmination of a life-long dream, and are delighted to have the opportunity to obtain a school with such a strong staff, firm foundation, and excellent reputation.”
“We plan to continue to conduct the school’s operation as you have become accustomed to and as the staff have done since 1970, while upgrading and renovating the physical structure, and introducing state-of-the-art technology for our staff and students,” he added on behalf of the new ownership team.
“These enhancements coupled with our experienced teaching staff and proven curriculum will make Munger Academy an obvious choice for early childhood education.”
About Munger Academy
Munger Academy opened its doors as Blake Preschool and Childcare Center. Ilene and Warren Blake and Stanley and Martha Mills were the original founders. The school housed the first kindergarten, public or private, in Loudoun County. In September 1992, Paula and David Munger purchased the school and renamed it Munger Academy.
The school has a rich tradition of educating families in Northern Virginia. Many people who attended Munger Academy as children are now bringing their children to the school. “It is very rewarding to have a second generation come to experience the same benefits of quality academic programs for preschool through first grade in a family-oriented environment,” added Patricia Hidy, Munger Academy administrator. “We continue to believe that the child who begins ahead, stays ahead.” Munger Academy boasts an academic and family-oriented environment for children in preschool through first grade.
